Shodash Granth in English

Shri Vallabhacharyaji came on earth for a mission. His holy mission was to demolish illusive performances of Hindu religion and to give religious creed of pure and natural love path toward Krishna-Bhakti. For his holy mission, he had created sixteen different volumes.

He wrote preface named "Anu Bhashya" for volume called "Brahma Sutra" by Maharshi Vyasmuni. Similarly he wrote preface volume called "Subodhiniji" for "Shrimad Bhagwat." At the same time he wrote "Sixteen different volumes" called "Shodash Granth" for his devotees to understand the creed and "Krishna-Bhakti."

In pustimargiya cult, there is special importance of "Shodash-Granth." It is called "Geetaji" of our cult, so it is also called "Vallabh-Geeta." We can also name "Shodash Granth" as "Upnisada" because it has all extract of principles of pustimarg. This all volumes are like sixteen phases of moon. It is also like compressed memory stored on computer disk.

The extraordinary divine speech of Shri Mahaprabhuji is like 16 different kind of ornaments. Since Shri Mahaprabhuji is another form of Shri Krishna (Shri Thakorji), his divine speech is also created by Shri Krishna, means it is created by Shri Krishna himself.Normally, all these 16 volumes were written independently at different occasions, but they are connected to each other.

The first volume is "Shri Yamunastakam." All "Jivas" in this world are bind to materialistic and physical world. Only by the divine grace of Shri Yamunaji, they are capable of achieving Shri Krishna. Therefore, Shri Yamunastakam is first. In "Balbodh", he explained us for kinds of effort for achievement in life described in Hindu scripture. The basic principle of pustimarg - how to serve God is explained in "Sidhant Muktavali." To explain three kinds of souls, "Pusti" (God’s favorite), "Pravahi" and "Maryada", he wrote "Pusti Pravah Maryada."

To give us a knowledge of how "Pusti Jiv" can be reattached to Shri Krishna by "Brahma Sambandh", he wrote "Siddhant Rahashya" (secrets of Pustimarg.) Once we get "Brahma Sambandh", all our worries are taken away by Shri Krishna, to explain that "Brahma Sambandhi Jiva" should not have worry about this physical world and other spiritual world, he wrote volume of "Navratnam." When one gets free of all worries, he should use this human body to serve Shri Krishna by devoting all his comfort, wealth and belongings which very well explained in "Antah Karan Prabodh" a teaching from within.

How to cultivate qualities of politeness, patience and total surrender to Shri Krishna is taught in "Vivek Dhairashraya." In "Krishnashraya", he explained that why pustimargiya devotee has to surrender to Shri Krishna. Shri Krishna is the only religion, materialism, salvation and deeds is explained in "Chatuh Shloki." How the devoteesm can be sublimed in our lives is explained in "Bhaktivardhini."

For eventual sublimation of devoteesm, we need to praise Shri Krishna and to listen about the life of Shri Krishna. Different aspects of listeners are explained in "Panch Padya." Also, there different aspects and qualities of speakers which are very well defined in "Jalbhedh" volume. To feel (view) and experience the presence of almighty Shri Krishna, we need to be separated and suffered from him.

And in the life of Pustimargiya devotee is also necessary not to be bothered by this physical and materialistic world. And this is very well explained and proved in "Sanyas Niryan" volume composed by Shri Vallabhacharya. This kind of devotee should use his or her human body only to serve in "Nirodh Laxana" volume. What kind of reward and fruit of these services will be awarded by Shri Krishna is found in "Seva Fal" volume.

First step in devotion is to conquer ourselves from within, which is achieved by Shri Yamunastakam. So, Shri Yamunastakam is first volume and in chronological order when we achieve everything (spiritually), Seva Fal (rewards of service) is the sixteenth and last volume composed by Shri Vallabhacharya.

"This is the divine speech and path of life explained to us by Shri Vallabh. I have humbly tried to do translation of Gujarati version written by honorable Shri Rameshbhai Parikh. This translation was proposed by Shri Goswami Dhrumilkumarji in 1994 at Houston Tx, USA location. The purpose of translation is to feed younger generation in western countries about our culture and rich heritage of Pustimargiya Seva Bhakti. I hope that goals will be achieved eventually."
